Three contractors.
Three different opinions.
You noticed a crack, some water, or a wall that just didn’t look right — so you did the responsible thing and got a few opinions. One said it was nothing. The next wanted to tear out your whole foundation. The third quoted a number that made your stomach drop. Now you’re more confused, and more worried, than when you started.
“It’s nothing to worry about.”
So you wait — and a small, fixable problem quietly becomes an expensive one.
“You need the whole system.”
A five-figure quote for major work your home may not actually need.
“We can start Monday.”
Pressure and urgency — before anyone has explained what’s really going on.
There’s a better way — and it starts with the truth.
We’ve worked on Quad Cities homes since 1948, and we’ve seen what that confusion does to good people. So we do the opposite of the hard sell: we explain what’s actually happening beneath your home, in plain language, and recommend only what it genuinely needs.
Sometimes that’s a major repair. Sometimes it’s a simple fix. Sometimes it’s “keep an eye on it and call us if it changes.” Either way, you’ll finally have a straight answer you can trust.
Get an honest assessmentWe Diagnose Before We Prescribe
We’re a team of working contractors — not a company of salespeople. Every recommendation is based on what your home actually needs, not on what we’d like to sell.
We inspect, find the real problem, and tell you the truth — even when the fix is smaller and cheaper than you expected.
You get the repair your home needs — not the biggest system we could sell. We solve problems instead of pushing products.
Skilled working contractors handle your project — no commissioned reps, no pressure, no scare tactics.
You work with seasoned tradespeople — not salesmen
Call Behncke and you get the people who actually do the work: masons, carpenters, and inspectors who have spent their careers in the field. These are the people leading the work on your home.

Questions homeowners actually ask
Straight answers to the things that keep people up at night — no jargon, no pressure.
Why did three contractors give me three different opinions?
Because foundation and water problems can be diagnosed — and sold — very differently. Some companies lead with the biggest system they offer; others miss the real cause. The honest answer depends on what’s actually happening beneath your home, which is why we inspect and explain before we ever recommend. A second opinion from someone who shows you the “why” is always worth getting.
Do I always need a full waterproofing system?
No. Sometimes the right fix is a single crack repair, better grading, or a downspout extension. A full interior drainage system is the correct answer for some homes and overkill for others. We’ll tell you honestly which one yours needs — even when the smaller fix is the cheaper one.
Can a foundation crack be repaired without rebuilding the wall?
Very often, yes. Many cracks can be sealed or stabilized from the inside or outside without tearing down and rebuilding the wall. Full rebuilds are sometimes necessary, but they’re the exception, not the default. We’ll show you which your wall actually needs, and why.
How do I know if water is coming through the wall, floor, or grading?
That’s exactly what a proper inspection determines. Water through a wall crack, up through the floor and cove joint, and surface water from poor grading can all look the same in a wet basement — but each has a different fix. We trace it to the source so you’re not paying to solve the wrong problem.
Do you do the work yourselves?
Yes. Behncke has been a Quad Cities contractor since 1948, and our own experienced crews do the work — not rotating subcontractors. That’s how we’re able to stand behind it.
How soon can you inspect the problem?
Usually within a few days, and sooner when there’s active water or an urgent concern. Call or text us at 563-332-6045 and we’ll get you on the schedule.
