Concrete & Flatwork in Blue Grass

Driveways, sidewalks, patios, and farm-home slabs poured to last through Blue Grass’s clay soil and freeze-thaw winters — by a Quad Cities crew that’s worked with concrete since 1948. Proper base, proper drainage, and clean finish work that holds up.

Good concrete starts before the truck

The mix and the materials decide as much as the crew

The quality of a concrete job depends on more than the people pouring it — it’s the mix and the materials. After decades here, we know which ready-mix suppliers deliver a dependable mix and which base materials hold up. We don’t chase the cheapest supplier; we use the ones that consistently help us hand you a slab that lasts.

Your next step

“Is all concrete basically the same?”

Not even close — here’s what differs:

  1. Concrete flatwork — the materials and standards behind a lasting slab
  2. Commercial concrete — the same standard, scaled up

“Kyle came out and did a very thorough job of looking for possible cracks in the foundation, digging down to see below surface line — and informed us he didn’t see any obvious cracks.”

“We had our basement joists replaced. Reasonable quote, booked in a timely manner, great communication with expectations and the contract. We could park a semi on our new floors. The owner was a doll.”

Concrete That Lasts in Blue Grass

Out on Blue Grass’s flat farmland, concrete lives or dies by what’s underneath it. Expansive clay swells and shrinks, water sits on level lots, and hard freeze-thaw cycles heave slabs that were poured on a weak base or without drainage. We take the time to prep and compact the base, set proper thickness and control joints, and grade for drainage — so your driveway, walk, or slab still looks right years from now.

WHAT WE POUR & REPLACE

Concrete Flatwork for Blue Grass Homes

Driveways

New pours and full replacements over a properly compacted base, with joints and slope that hold up to freeze-thaw, clay, and farm traffic.

Sidewalks & Steps

Safe, level walks and front steps — including replacing cracked, heaved, or trip-hazard sections.

Patios, Pads & Slabs

Patios, equipment and shed pads, and garage or outbuilding slabs, graded to drain away from buildings.

Tear-Out & Repour

Removing failed, cracked, or settled concrete and repouring it right — with the base and drainage corrected first.

IT’S ALL IN THE PREP

The Base Is Why Concrete Lasts — or  Cracks

Anyone can pour concrete; making it last in Blue Grass’s clay and freeze-thaw is about the prep underneath. We compact the base, set proper thickness and control joints, and grade so water drains away — the same straightforward, no-shortcuts work we’ve done since 1948.

BLUE GRASS CONCRETE FAQ

Common Concrete Questions

Why did my old Blue Grass driveway crack and heave?

Almost always a base or drainage problem. Expansive clay holds water, freeze-thaw lifts the slab, and without proper compaction and joints it cracks. We fix the cause before we repour so the new slab lasts.

Can you replace just a cracked section, or the whole slab?

Both — we’ll tell you honestly which makes sense. Sometimes a single trip-hazard panel is all that needs replacing; other times the whole slab has failed and a full repour is the better value.

Do you pour slabs and pads out on acreages?

Yes — driveways, shed and equipment pads, outbuilding slabs, and walks for homes in town and on the section roads alike.

How fast can you come look?

We’re based just east in Davenport, a short drive out US-61, so we usually get out quickly and have a written estimate to you within one business day.
